Landscape mode on Facebook live got ya down? What the heck!?! Facebook just won’t let me be great. Every time I tried to stream in landscape mode I’d show up sideways in the newsfeed.
UGH!! So I googled the heck out of this and asked every soul I could find on Facebook. No one knew the answer but a ton of people had the same problem. So I went into mad scientist mode. After a week of creating a million FB lives (don’t worry I made them private so no one suffered with me) I found the answer for us iphone users:
Here’s how to create landscape videos on Facebook live:
1. Got to your “Settings” on your iphone.
2. Click “Display & Brightness”
3. Go down to “View” and change this to Standard.
Viola…that’s all folks.
If you are wondering why I was so committed to solving this problem. When you record in landscape your video fills the entire frame. So if you decide to repurpose your content or video and upload it to youtube or vimeo etc. it will be the perfect orientation and size for the video frame. In landscape mode you won’t see those black lines on either side.
If you had or have that view mode set to Zoom you my friend are SOL. No landscape for you. Another friendly tip I would suggest is starting your Facebook Live broadcast in Landscape mode. As opposed to starting in portrait and switching to landscape while live. Let me know you if this worked for you in the comments below and please share.
